Why You Should Blog

Like so many things, including Google, “blog” has become a verb. The term itself is a noun that is a shortened version of “weblog”, an online journal of sorts. Seriously, you can do anything you want with your blog. Keep it purely technical, as I mostly do with this blog; or, make it personal, which is what I do with my other blog site, brianrouley.com. Either way, people who read your blog (if you are fortunate enough to create a following) will come to know you. And, you know this is true…. people are more likely to do business with people they know.

Here’s the other big upside to blogging. You can link key phrases in your posts to pages on your website. For instance, if I want to promote myself as being the best SEO in Palm Desert, all I have to do is link that phrase to my website. And, yes, SEO is now used as a noun referring to people like me, who do this behind the scenes work to help your website be found by people searching for your product or service.

That should be all I need to say about blogging. This blog post, while intended to provide information about why you should blog, also is self-serving by the presence of that one link. When the search engines crawl the web and find that linked phrase, they will associate that key phrase with the website I’ve linked it to on this page.

Easy, right? Tedious, boring, monotonous work is what it is. Hire me. I’ll do it for you.
